Don't cry for Argentina [NYT]
Mr. O'Neill, whose comments on the financial troubles in Latin America over the last month have upset financial markets and set off a diplomatic tiff with Brazil, used a news conference here today to mend some fences. Sticking carefully to scripted remarks, unlike many previous occasions, Mr. O'Neill praised Brazil and Uruguay for pursuing sound economic policies, and offered some encouragement but no new help to Argentina... [On Sunday] he said aid would be forthcoming only after Latin American nations could assure that the aid "doesn't just go out of the country to Swiss bank accounts."
The muppet speaks!
