Bad TRIPS
The WTO is forcing developing countries to implement an IP regime (called TRIPS) that benefits multinational companies at the expense of their citizens. A british government-comissioned study recently explained why this was a bad idea, spurring even the Economist to demur, quoting itself from 1851: "patents are artificial stimuli to improvident exertions."
